pounds cropThe HSE’s new Fee for Intervention (FFI) cost recovery scheme came into force on 1 October 2012.

The HSE now has a duty under The Health and Safety (Fees) Regulations 2012 to recover its costs for carrying out its regulatory functions from businesses and organisations found to be in material breach of health and safety law.

This will shift some of the cost of health and safety regulation from the public purse onto those that break health and safety laws.

The Fee for Intervention hourly rate for 2012/2013 is £124.

The HSE has published guidance to help businesses and organisations understand what Fee for Intervention means for them and how it fits with HSE’s approach to enforcement - click here to download.

A short guide is also available introducing the basics of the scheme - click here to download.
